15/09/08: INSAN: Peace Building program in Kirkuk

INSAN Iraqi Society has launched on September 1st 2008 a peace building program in the area of Rapareen, Kirkuk city. The program is funded by UNOPS and the European Union.

Rapareen is located in the South-East of Kirkuk and is populated by diverse communities: Kurds, Turkmen, Arabs, Assyrians, Internally displaced persons, Returnees and Host Communities. This mix of population naturally leads to exacerbate existing tensions fuelled in the background by a political process aimed to determine the status of Kirkuk.

In parallel, diverse activities will aim at relieving the sufferings of community members through income generation, vocational training and social activities targeting children, youth and women in particular.
